Episode 15: Matt Golt on sustainable living.

In episode 15 of Balanceness, I had the pleasure of interviewing my Sidebar colleague Matt Golt. While Matt’s official bio is short, “I love writing on growth and leadership. Lover of fitness, people, and coffee”, his fitness resume goes deep. At the young age of 23, Matt became the Co-Owner and Manager of Montreal's well-known and popular gym Blackout Fitness. He parlayed this experience into his own boutique gym and the build out of a fitness-based application that would track the progress and metrics of his clients. When the pandemic shuttered his doors, Matt pivoted to business growth and development for startups and clients alike. In this role Matt indulges his passion for helping people and businesses grow through the power of kindness and perseverance.

In this episode, we explore the importance of building a well-rounded life. Like many people with active minds, Matt has used fitness since childhood as an outlet for his energy and as a cultivation mechanism for focus. Being a naturally driven character, Matt found himself in overdrive on one or more occasions. In his early days of owning and managing gyms, he found himself in burnout mode. During the pandemic, he turned to run / bike / swim as a support during this challenging time, and to act as the next challenge in his life. However, with a full-time business development career, Matt has begun to rethink his dedication to fitness in favor of sustainable living. Join us as we discuss what it means to integrate fitness into a life full of relationships, work and balance.
